Tour of Dirt Road Section of Dunbar Creek (Page 1 of 22)
At the Crossing

We begin our tour of the Dirt Road Section of Dunbar Creek at the Crossing, just beyond the gate at the end of the Dirt Road. To the left, just upstream of the crossing, you can see the stepping stones. This is the preferred route for crossing the stream on foot, as the area below the rocks (where the road crosses) usually has numerous fish in it. If you spook them, they will hide under the large stepping stones on the upstream side of the ford.

The Ford at The End of The Dirt Road
This is a view of the ford, from just downstream of the crossing point. The water level in this picture (taken in mid August) is much lower than in the preceding picture (taken in mid July). The photos in the Dirt Road Section of the Tour, were all taken during low flow conditions. Those of the Upper Dunbar Tour were taken in normal flow, from the headwater to the meadow and low flow from the meadow to the Dirt Road Ford. The day this picture was taken, the water temperature was 61.4 degrees F at this point.
